Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

Growing up the only athletic thing I did was ride horses, I was always the last person picked to play on anyone’s team in gym class, and my dad called me the laziest woman on earth as a teenager, and I was. I never had any desire to workout much less get sweaty or build muscle in any way until around 1999 when I was in massage school and started learning about anatomy and physiology. This led me to start taking group exercise classes such as yoga, aerobics, and my all time favorite step aerobics. Over the years I have tried a many different varieties of fitness classes and styles including body building none of those styles of fitness have challenged, improved and nourished me the way that crossfit and the crossfit community has.

Why did you become a trainer?

 
In 1999, I began my love affair with fitness in step aerobics and yoga class which led me to doing everything that I could to gain knowledge and insight as to how I could become more fit and how I could share my passion for fitness with others. Over the last almost 20 years I have collected many fitness and yoga certifications but none of those types of fitness ever gave me the excitement and empowerment that crossfit did and does every single day.  I became a crossfit trainer because I was hungry for more knowledge on a deeper level as to how I could not only improve my skills as an athlete but how I could help others improve their skills as athletes and in life in general. 

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Deadlifts – because I am a body builder at heart
Burpees – because I just love them 

What is your favorite cheat food?

It depends on the day and my mood. One rule I have with cheat meals is to never settle for cheap and easy food it has to be decadent quality amazing food or it’s just not worth the calories 

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

My client Donna. She is paralyzed from her mid-thoracic down and never gives up on her goals. She exercises 7 days a week, she is meticulous about her meals, and she is always open to and looking for ways that she can inspire, support and help others. While Donna may not be in the marvel comic books she is truly a super hero to me
